Terms of Service

In short

PantryDo is a free app for keeping track of what is in your kitchen, run by one person. Use it for that, keep your account to yourself, and remember that anyone you invite to a pantry can change everything in it. What you put in stays yours. Expiry dates are reminders you typed in, not food-safety advice.

These terms

These terms are the agreement between you and Vitor Margis, who runs PantryDo as an individual, covering pantrydo.com, everything behind it and the installed app. Using PantryDo means accepting them. If you do not, the honest thing is not to use it.

How your data is handled is set out separately, in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.

Who can use it

You need to be at least 16. An account is for one person — yours — and you are responsible for what happens under it. If you create an account on behalf of a household, everyone in that household still signs in as themselves; that is what sharing a pantry is for.

Your account

  • Give a real email address. It is how you sign in and the only way to reach you.
  • Keep your password and your sign-in links to yourself. A magic link sent to your inbox signs in whoever opens it.
  • Tell Vitor Margis at vitor.margis@gmail.com if you think someone else has got into your account.

What PantryDo is for, and what it is not for

Use it to keep track of your kitchen. Please do not:

  • break the law with it, or use it to store or share anything unlawful;
  • try to get at other people’s pantries, probe the service for weaknesses, or work around the checks that decide who can see what;
  • hammer it with automated traffic, scrape it, or put load on it that a kitchen app would never produce;
  • resell it, or pass it off as your own service;
  • upload other people’s personal information into it. It is a pantry, not a filing cabinet — the only personal data it expects is your own and, through sharing, the names and email addresses of people who chose to join you.

Finding a security flaw and reporting it to vitor.margis@gmail.com is not breaking these terms — it is a favour, and it will be treated as one.

Shared pantries

A pantry has one owner: the account that created it. The owner can rename it, change its settings, invite people, remove them and delete it. Everyone else who joins can see and change everything the pantry contains — add, edit and delete items and list entries — but cannot alter the pantry itself or invite anybody new.

The invite link is a key. Anyone signed in who opens it joins the pantry. It works until the owner replaces it or revokes it, and making a new one stops the old one working. Send it to people you mean to let in, and no further.

Revoking a link does not remove the people who already joined — the link is how you get in, not what keeps you in. To remove someone, the owner removes them from the pantry’s people list. Deleting a pantry deletes it for everyone it was shared with, permanently.

What you put in stays yours

Your pantries, your items, your lists and your notes remain yours. You grant Vitor Margis only the permission needed to actually run the service: to store what you write, to show it back to you, and to show it to the people you share a pantry with. Nothing more — your content is not published, not used to advertise, not used to train anything, and not shown to anyone you did not invite.

You are responsible for what you put in. By putting it in, you confirm you are entitled to.

Expiry dates are reminders, not advice

This matters more than the rest of this page. PantryDo shows expiry warnings based entirely on dates you typed in, counted against a warning window you chose. It does not know what your food is, how it was stored, or whether it is safe. An item without a warning is not thereby safe to eat, and an expired badge is not a verdict.

Judge food by the packaging, by your senses and by the rules where you live — never by this app. PantryDo gives no food-safety, dietary, nutritional or health advice, and allergen information is only ever whatever you wrote in the notes yourself.

Availability, and what “free” means

PantryDo is free and provided as it is, with no promised uptime. It is a small app run by one person: it may be unavailable, features may change or be withdrawn, and it may one day stop. If it is going to shut down, you will be given notice by email and a chance to get your data out first.

Keep that in mind about your data too. Reasonable care is taken, but PantryDo should not be your only record of anything you would be sorry to lose.

If PantryDo ever starts charging for something, you will be told beforehand and nothing will be charged without your explicit agreement. Whatever you have already put in stays reachable.

Ending it

You can stop at any time. Delete a pantry you own from Settings, leave one you were invited to, or email vitor.margis@gmail.com to have your whole account and everything in it deleted.

Your account may be suspended or closed if you break these terms in a way that harms the service or other people, or if the law requires it. Except where something serious or unlawful is going on, you will be told why and given a chance to put it right.

Liability

Vitor Margis remains fully liable for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for intent and gross negligence, and for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability under the GDPR.

Beyond that, and because PantryDo is provided free of charge, liability for slight negligence is limited to breaches of obligations that are essential to the agreement, and then to damage that was foreseeable and typical of a service of this kind. There is no liability for lost profit, lost savings, spoiled food, a missed shopping trip, or data you could have kept a copy of elsewhere.

None of this limits your rights as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country you live in.

Changes to these terms

These terms change when the app does; the date at the top says when they last did. Material changes will be announced by email or in the app before they take effect, and continuing to use PantryDo after that means accepting them. If you would rather not, you can delete your account, and these terms tell you how.

Law and disputes

This agreement is governed by the law of the country in which Vitor Margis is established. If you are a consumer in the European Union, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your own courts.

The European Commission runs an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Vitor Margis is neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board, but is always willing to sort something out directly: vitor.margis@gmail.com.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

PantryDo is run by Vitor Margis. Questions about any of this go to vitor.margis@gmail.com.
